A big HELLO! š Thank you again for being the founding members of our closed beta. Many of you are friends and connections, many others have joined us through our posts on various start-up networks around the world. But regardless of how you came to us, Iām incredibly grateful that youāre sharing in the start of our journey to build a trusted knowledge platform for start-up builders to get stuff done.
Weāre launching our Closed Beta as of today. Below, Iāll explain how this will work in Q&A form (what else?!)
What is Unsearch again?
Unsearch is a Q&A platform focused on the āhow do I do this?ā class of questions and answers for start-up builders. Examples of these are,
Iām an early-stage hardware start-up. What are best practices in managing third-party distributors for my product?
How do I build a high performing enterprise sales team for a HR SaaS company?
What are reliable third-party web scraping services for e-commerce retail platforms?
We want to help founders and operators build better by leveraging the expertise of someone else who has been there, done that. The best questions are those that are āunsearchableā and require expertise and judgment.
Great, how do I ask a question?
Just email your question to ask@unsear.ch, itās as simple as that. Youāll receive a reply in your inbox when the answerer replies. We ask that you limit yourself to one follow-up because we want to be respectful of our membersā time. More context upfront will also help minimize unnecessary back-and-forth! One-liner questions beget one-liner responses. The above examples are illustrative, and each probably requires a bit more situational context if asked.
And Iāve to answer questions too, right?
Yes, Unsearch works loosely on a barter principle based on peopleās past experiences and skillsets. If we think you might have an answer to a question, weāll send you a note via e-mail. You can answer by simply replying to that e-mail.
Treat Unsearch questions as though a personal friend wrote a message. It would be ideal to respond within a day, and no later than 2 days. This allows the asker to get a response in a timely manner when it is still relevant to them. Also, what goes around comes around, the next time you ask a question, you get timely responses too.
Are my questions and answers anonymous?
Itās up to you. By default, askers are anonymous while answerers identities are known. This is to avoid potential embarrassment from asking questions, while encouraging high quality answers. In all instances when the person is anonymous, we will provide a verified but non-identifiable profile of the person (e.g. Head of Sales, HR SaaS, Raised $10M Series A, Global).
Where do all questions and answers go?
Itās up to you. By default, all content will eventually go into a public knowledge base that chronicles the answererās expertise on the subject. Think of it as a personal archive of your own thoughts in various professional domains (e.g. a Github for non-engineers). These will be freely discoverable on the web and you can share your personal page with others. This feature is still a work-in-progress and we look forward to sharing it when itās ready.
